 To many enthusiastic fans of sport and fitness, Kitbag.com will immediately spring to mind as their one-stop shop for whatever leisurewear and sporting merchandise they may require, and with good reason. However, those who are yet to discover Kitbag’s impressive service need only look around a few sporting websites to be introduced in earnest to the company and its offers, such is the stranglehold it has over the online sports and leisurewear retail market. Indeed, Kitbag was the first site of this type that came to my attention, and I've seen no reason to use any other online sports retailer since. However, those who are yet to discover Kitbag’s impressive service need only look around a few sporting websites to be introduced in earnest to the company and its offers, such is the stranglehold it has over the online sports and leisurewear retail market. Indeed, Kitbag was the first site of this type that came to my attention, and I've seen no reason to use any other online sports retailer since. In contrast to what the name may suggest, you are not limit  ed in your purchasing at this online store to just football kits. In fact, you are not even limited to just sportswear in general. Kitbag.com has a variety of products, ranging from football shirts and football boots, to women’s leisurewear and gym equipment. There’s even a dedicated section for American Football’s NFL if that sort of thing tickles your fancy. This store really does include most things you could ever need from a wide range of sports, and not at ridiculously inflated prices like you may come to expect from some Internet retailers.The website itself is well laid out and very simple to use. It does not try to grab your attention with over-the-top graphics that look good but are ultimately not very practical, and there are no signs of any annoying flash effects or distracting animated images. The pages seem genuinely created to give the user complete accessibility to all areas of the site with the limited amount of fuss – to the left, you can find links to the various areas of the store, on top is the basic kit-bag logo with the short but encouraging slogan ‘Your Kit – Quick!’, and the standard online retailer options are located underneath next to a convenient search box, in case the shopper is unsure where their desired product may be located. Simple. You may even find that you’re finished shopping within ten or so minutes, which is always a pleasant thing. Football Within a few clicks, you’ll become accustomed to the idea that football really is where Kitbag pulls in most of its profit. The main page, traditionally filled with graphical advertisements of various products and promotions, really does lean heavily towards this particular sport – but with such a huge variety of footballing goods, even that sort of substantial coverage does not cover it all. A quick glance into the football section will uncover several sub-sections which feature official Premiership, Football League, National and European kits – all of which are available in long or short sleeve, and also in specialized sizes for both women and young children. Shirt printing is offered at just £10 extra if selected from the list provided on the site, or just 99p per letter and £3.99 per number if you want to personalize the shirt with your own name. The shirts themselves cost the standard market value, between £30 and £40, but one of the biggest advantages in choosing to purchase shirts online at Kitbag as opposed to in a retail shop in the high street is the ability to pre-order new releases weeks before they are officially unveiled. Kitbag offers a guarantee on all pre-orders that they will arrive at your door the morning of the release, often bettering this by ensuring the goods arrive the day prior to the unveiling. This proves hugely convenient as trips to your local sports retailer can prove arduous, and if buying on the day of release, are often crowded which can cause lengthy waiting times if also purchasing shirt printing. Ordering from Kitbag cuts out all that fuss, and although they cover themselves by stating in their Help section that printed shirts may take an extra day for delivery, this has not been the case in my experience.  Kitbag’s section on football extends further than just official kits though. The site also features a rather large area entitled ‘Boot Room’, in which an impressive variety of footballing footwear from top brands such as Nike, Reebok, Adidas, and Umbro is stocked. You will be pleasantly surprised by what’s on offer – a huge selection of styles and colours, all available in soft ground, firm ground and Astroturf form, with prices starting at just £30 for an adult-sized pair. Alternatively, if you’re interested in footwear for more general sports, the Footwear section features both aesthetically pleasing and sportingly practical designs for both males and females. Again, prices start at around £30. Buying So you’ve had a look at Kitbag’s vast array of sporting and fitness goods on the site, and want to make a purchase. This is very quick and easy to do. First, you’ll need to register by hovering the cursor over ‘My Profile’, and selecting ‘Log In’. You will be presented with a log in screen, but if you’re not already a customer, you can register your details by clicking the link entitled ‘New to Kitbag?’, and filling in the basic registration form. As soon as that is done, you’re ready to spend some money. Simply return to the page with your desired product, add the item to your basket, and choose ‘Pay Now’ on your now updated basket page. This is quick and easy and can be done within a few clicks. You can track your order’s status via the order history option under the heading ‘My Profile’. Delivery Delivery costs range between £3.95 for standard three working day deliveries, and £5.95 for the express next day delivery option. Alternatively, if you spend over £75, the shipping costs are free. Overseas shipping is offered, using a fully traceable delivery service. This process can take between 1 and 5 working days, depending on your location. I have found Kitbag.com to offer a very reliable service, with an impressive amount of products available for purchase. I would certainly recommend the site to anybody interested in purchasing equipment and clothing for both sports and fitness. |
