'The UK's Online Marketplace.'
Introduction

eBay, renowned by many and recognized by almost everyone, has been around for as long many can remember.  One of the busiest sites online, eBay.com, after initial success, has expanded and is now available in the UK as well as many other countries.
Being an 'online marketplace' eBay makes its revenue by taking a small percentage cut off the prices sellers get for their goods, this cut really is comparatively small and doesn't hinder one's chances of getting good money for un-needed goods.

The 'Online Auction'

For those who are yet to use eBay, you can use it in two ways, to find great bargains for second-hand (or sometimes new) goods, varying from imaginary friends to computers, or to sell your own items. One an account has been registered (one also needs to partake in an additional registration to receive a seller's account) you can get straight into the bidding, just search through the tens of thousands of items eBay has to offer and if an item interests you, all you have to do is place an increased bid on it, and then be sure to watch that item closely, as chances are someone will again increase the bid and then you'll have to either pull out of the bidding, and let the item go, or increase the bid furthermore. Whoever has tabled the highest bid come the deadline (which is specified by the seller) wins, and then has to pay for the item by the correct means, which is usually mutually agreed.

eBay Perks

It's surprisingly easy to lose track of what items you've bid for, and it can be hard to remember which items you're interested in on eBay, due to its huge size and heavy traffic, but help is at hand, and comes in the form of 'My eBay'.  Many useful things can be done from 'My eBay', such as 'tracking' items that you're interested in, and see how people bid on them, or to quickly know how you're doing on an item you've bid on, without having to search for it again.  Also, through 'My eBay', there's a comprehensive messaging service on offer, as well as a recommended items feature, based on your past purchases or interests.  eBay really do strive to make their service enjoyable and easy-to-use, and more than succeed.
Another perk of eBay, and very useful when bidding on items, is that you can almost scare rivals away, by tabling high bids. For example, should an item's current bid be at £10, you could bid £30, which would be likely to scare others away, as they'd have to increase on £30 to stand a chance of getting the item, but the best part is, should your scare tactics have worked, eBay won't make you pay the £30 you bid, but will only make you pay the next highest bid, so if it was on £10, you'd only pay £11, eventhough your bid was £30.  Basically, by bidding £30, you're instructing eBay to increase on every bet until it gets to £30, which is unlikely if the value of the item is nowhere £30, so this technique gives you a far greater chance of being successful in your bidding war(s).

Overview

eBay really is the place to find great bargains, and can also be ideal for making great money, all from the comfort of your own home.
It can be daunting at first, with the tens of thousands of items and such heavy traffic going through the site, but the eBay site is very easy to use, and has very quick loading times, is very reliable and is extremely easily navigated.
